The meeting aimed to strengthen institutional cooperation and discuss issues of mutual interest, including the continuity of joint lines of work promoted by both institutions within the framework of sustained and strategic cooperation.
During the event, Balladares reaffirmed the commitment of the National Superintendence of Migrations to the protection and safeguarding of the migrant population's fundamental rights.
The official also underscored the importance of strengthening public policies in this area and strategic partnerships with the United Nations system.
"At the National Superintendence of Migrations, we reaffirm our commitment to migration management that places human rights at the center, strengthening our public policies and joint work with the United Nations to ensure dignified, inclusive, and non-discriminatory services," he stated.
In Peru, its technical mission implements assistance actions under the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Peruvian State in February 2023, in coordination with State-run institutions, civil society, and other agencies of the UN system.
The meeting was attended, on behalf of UN Human Rights, by Technical Mission Chief in Peru Jane Anttila; Non-Discrimination Unit Coordinator Iris Rojas Recalde; and Human Rights Officer Noriana Franco.
Representing the National Superintendence of Migrations were General Manager Lisseth Melchor; Operations Director Valeria Morales; and Migration Policy Director Francisco Cruzado.
