The Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML) invites residents and tourists to celebrate the "Día de la Canción Criolla" (Day of Creole Song) with cultural, musical, and recreational activities across various locations in the capital. This initiative aims to promote Peruvian traditions and bring Creole music, art, and gastronomy to people of all ages.

The "Lima de Jarana Criolla" program—organized by the Lima municipal government through Serpar, the Parque de las Leyendas (Park of the Legends), and the Manuel A. Segura Main Theater—will feature musical performances, drawing and painting workshops, culinary experiences, and entertainment for the whole family.

Creole music, gastronomy, and family activities

The Lima Parks Service (Serpar) will host a variety of activities in its metropolitan parks and clubs to celebrate Creole music and Peruvian customs.

The program kicked off this Sunday, October 25, with the "Festival Criollo" (Creole Festival) at the Huáscar Metropolitan Club in Villa El Salvador, featuring a day dedicated to national music and traditions.

This Friday, October 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the Flor de Amancaes Metropolitan Club in Villa María del Triunfo will host "Sabores y Ritmos Criollos" (Creole Flavors and Rhythms).

Attendees will have the chance to sample signature dishes of Creole cuisine and take part in a hands-on traditional dance class.

That same day, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Soldados del Perú Metropolitan Park in the Cercado de Lima district will host "Cuentos, Trucos y Criollazos" (Stories, Tricks, and Creole Fun)—an event combining children’s stories, costumes, and live Creole music, featuring performances by senior citizens sharing their musical talents.

On Saturday, October 31, starting at 3:00 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Alameda de Las Malvinas, in the Cercado de Lima district, will host "Día de la Canción Criolla con Arte y Color" (Day of Creole Song with Art and Color)—a drawing and painting workshop that will allow participants to express their creativity while drawing inspiration from this Peruvian musical tradition.

Also on Saturday the 31st, starting at 3 p.m., the Club Metropolitano San Pedro in Ancón will present "Música con Sabor Criollo y Halloween" (Music with a Creole Flavor and Halloween)—an event featuring music, games, and entertainment for the whole family.

Meanwhile, the Parque Metropolitano de La Muralla, in the Cercado de Lima, will host "Tradición Criolla y Patitas de Terror" (Creole Tradition and Spooky Paws) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This recreational event for the whole family will combine Creole music, the "Morenada" dance, and a pet costume showcase.

Parque de las Leyendas

The Parque de las Leyendas will join the celebration of the Day of Creole Song with "Ritmo y Tradición" (Rhythm and Tradition)—a music and dance show taking place on Saturday, October 31, at 4 p.m. at its San Miguel location.

The performance will introduce the public to artistic and cultural expressions that are part of Peru’s traditions, within a setting designed for enjoying music and dance.

Teatro Principal Manuel A. Segura

The program also includes the show "A Jaranear en el Segura" (Let’s Celebrate at the Segura), which will be presented on Saturday, October 31, at 6 p.m. at the Teatro Principal Manuel A. Segura.

The audience can look forward to performances by Los Doltons, Marco Romero, and Los Kipus, in a musical gathering dedicated to Creole song and the artists who help keep this tradition alive. Tickets are available via Joinnus.
