Avocados, metallic minerals, gunpowder and explosives, palm oil, and grapes rank among the export goods with the highest volume of shipments through the Port of Chancay, whose total export value has reached US$1.343 billion since the start of its operations.
The main destinations for these exports are China, the Netherlands, Spain, and Chile.
Cargo throughput
The Chancay Multipurpose Port Terminal has handled 425,427 containers since the start of its operations.
Of the total, transshipment accounts for 47% (200,046 containers).
Meanwhile, imports represent 32% (137,647 containers) and exports 21% (87,743 containers).
In the case of imports, the total value amounts to US$2.323 billion.
The goods with the highest volume of shipments, based on declared value, are vehicles (27%), machinery (17%), cereals (8%), and electrical equipment (8%).
The main countries of origin of these goods are China, which accounts for 75% of total imports, followed by Argentina (10%) and the United States (4%).
Transshipment
Regarding the transshipment regime, the main countries of origin of those goods are China, Chile, Mexico, and Ecuador. Meanwhile, the main destinations are Chile, China, and Japan.
Among transshipped goods, salmon accounts for the largest share (14%), followed by pine wood (8%) and metals (8%), with the China–Peru–Chile corridor serving as the principal trade route.
In addition, 3,517,819 metric tons of break-bulk cargo have been handled through the Port of Chancay. Of this volume, 71%, equivalent to 2,514,227 metric tons, entered under the import-for-consumption regime, mainly consisting of corn, cement, and other products.
Break-bulk cargo accounts for 27.5% of the total cargo throughput recorded at the port terminal.
Revenue collection
Imports processed through the Port of Chancay generated tax revenue worth S/1.037 billion (about US$307 million) in 2025.
Meanwhile, cumulative revenue collection reached S/603 million (about US$178 million) between January and May 2026.
