2026 Elections: First ballots and electoral records arrive in Peru from abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Monday that the first batch of ballots and electoral records from abroad has arrived in Lima, coming from La Paz, Bolivia, as part of the 2026 general elections.

Consul General, Elizabeth Castro, guaranteed the chain of custody until their delivery to the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), in compliance with established security protocols.

According to the electoral roll, a total of 1,210,813 Peruvians residing abroad are eligible to vote.

By continent, the distribution is as follows:

America: 757,697 voters
Europe: 403,388 voters
Asia: 41,413 voters
Oceania: 7,918 voters
Africa: 397 voters

In addition, among the consular jurisdictions with the highest number of voters are:

Madrid (Spain): 105,493
Barcelona (Spain): 79,606
