The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday spoke with the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, who reiterated the White House's support for the government led by her.

In context

Last Thursday, the U.S. Embassy in Lima stated that "the United States reaffirms its respect for democratic institutions in Peru and rejects any misinformation that promotes contrary ideas."

"We continue to support the people of Peru and call for peace and unity," the United States Embassy expressed on its social networks.

After several days of violent mobilizations, which have left injuries and deaths in various Peruvian regions, President Boluarte on Friday called on church leaders to set up dialogue roundtables to facilitate attention to social demands and the recovery of a climate of peace.
