The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Thursday affirmed that the 2021 general elections were clean, noting that there was no systematic fraud.

During an interview with Radio Santa Rosa, the Head of State said there were small material errors that usually occur in any electoral process.

In this sense, the statesman pointed out that the general elections winner will be the one to be finally announced by the National Election Board (JNE).

Moreover, Mr. Sagasti affirmed that there are people who believe or have convinced one another that "nothing explains that their candidate has lost, but because there was fraud."

For this reason, the Peruvian leader called on citizens to calm and "try to see things, not as we want them to be but as they certainly are."
