| Lima, Mar. 12.
Foreign Affairs Minister Allan Wagner
has affirmed that —at this time— Peru needs stability to
continue with the vaccination process against COVID-19 and thus protect all its citizens.
In remarks to Latina Noticias, the high-ranking official stressed that at this time "we need governance and stability."
"What we need in the country is stability to continue with the vaccination,
with the acquisition of vaccines in order to inoculate the entire population before the year comes to an end
,
hold the elections in an orderly manner (on April 11)
, and
reactivate the economy
," he indicated.
Regarding the
statements of his predecessor Elizabeth Astete, who claimed that she had been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the authorization of President Francisco Sagasti, the current minister indicated that there are contradictions in the statements made by Astete.
"I am struck by the fact that in the
resignation letter issued by her, she (Astete) indicated that she had made a serious mistake, but now she says that she had done so authorized by the President, and there I find a contradiction
," he pointed out.
In this sense, the diplomat supported the statement of the Presidency of the Republic and his colleagues, saying it is false that the Head of State had authorized or given his consent for the irregular vaccination of the former minister.
