Peru: Judiciary head meets with Comptroller General, Ombudswoman, and JNJ Chairman

Judiciary Chairwoman Elvia Barrios on Sunday met with Comptroller General Nelson Shack, Ombudswoman Eliana Revollar, and National Justice Board (JNJ) Chairman Henry Avila to promote dialogue among the branches of State with the aim of strengthening democracy.

The meeting, which was convened at initiative of Barrios, took place at the Palace of Justice in Lima.

On Saturday, the head of the Judiciary convened a session of the Council of State on November 27.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo and Congress Chairman Jose Williams Zapata were invited by Barrios to take part in it in order to promote dialogue between the two branches of the State.

On Sunday morning, the head of Congress announced that he was not going to attend.

In a statement, the Congress' Board said that the participation in this important meeting requires prior coordination for the presentation of proposals agreed by all instances of Parliament.
