The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, took part on Tuesday in the central ceremony marking the 138th anniversary of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).

At this event, the Head of State stressed that his administration is advancing an agenda focused on economic equality, a firm fight against corruption, and expanded opportunities for youth.

"We are engaged in governing within a liberal democratic system. That system must meet fundamental requirements for society to be equitable. For example, governing from the Executive Branch with very clear ideas about what it means to pursue economic and social equality for the majority. Second, zero corruption. Third, ensuring greater political rights for young people," he said during his address.

The top official referred to the need to foster mechanisms that broaden access to education and training for young people, particularly through scholarships for studies abroad.

In that regard, the president announced that his administration will submit a supplementary credit bill to Congress to address this demand.

"We have a problem with Congress, which has not supported our budget. Therefore, we are requesting a supplementary credit so that these very necessary scholarships can be financed," he said.

The Head of State added that, once the funding is approved, priority will be given to meeting this need for the citizenry.

"As soon as Congress approves the supplementary proposal, we will address this demand from the population," he stated.

The top official reaffirmed his willingness to work in coordination with the business sector and to support initiatives that contribute to national development.

"I am pleased to be with you and to support all the projects you consider appropriate," he expressed.

The Head of State underscored the importance of the Lima Chamber of Commerce as a space for dialogue between the Peruvian State and the private sector.

He also reiterated his administration's commitment to consolidating stability, trust, and clear rules that favor investment, formal employment, and the closing of gaps for the benefit of all Peruvians.
