The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, stated on Wednesday that the government he leads fosters coordination and integration with Peruvian regions to promote unity and development.

Speaking during the launch ceremony of Expo Amazonica Cusco 2026, the Head of State said there is now a new government vision aimed at seeking integration, which had not been promoted in the past.

"We need all Peruvians to come together, and that is possible (…) From the government, we are promoting integration between the south and the Peruvian Amazon, as well as the central and northern parts of the country," Balcazar emphasized.

The President underscored that the Peruvian Amazon holds not only energy wealth but environmental importance that must be preserved for future generations.

The top official recalled that his administration is working on a series of projects for Amazonian cities such as Iquitos, as part of efforts to boost integration with the regions.

He added that work will continue to promote tourism to Machu Picchu, located on the edge of the Cusco jungle, and to encourage private investment in the country, with guarantees, transparency, and security.

Expo Amazonica Cusco 2026 is the main commercial, cultural, and tourism event of the Peruvian Amazon, bringing together producers, business leaders, and Amazonian regions on a platform focused on integration, economic activity, and international outreach.

The event—organized by the Regional Government of Cusco—will take place from April 29 to May 3 at the Huancaro fairgrounds in the city of Cusco, southeastern Peru.

The launch ceremony was attended by the Amazon Commonwealth Chairman and Ucayali Region Governor, Manuel Gambini, as well as Cusco Governor Werner Salcedo.
