The Peruvian National Police (PNP) on Tuesday transferred Jose Samame Blas, Electoral Management Director at the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), to the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri) headquarters in Lima.

The transfer was carried out under heavy security measures.

As reported, the PNP's Anti-Corruption Directorate (Dircocor) caught the official in flagrante delicto the previous day.

The arrest is related to the alleged commission of the crime of omission, refusal, or delay of official duties.

The official is linked to the hiring of the company Galaga S.A.C., associated with delays in delivering electoral materials to various polling places last Sunday.

Samame Blas had submitted his resignation on April 12, following the events.

He was later detained by the police, with the aim of clarifying the facts after the opening of an investigation.

In his resignation letter, Samame Blas acknowledged "logistical failures" that affected the normal deployment of electoral materials at various polling places in the city of Lima, causing delays and complications in the installation of polling tables.
