President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday urged Congress to let him work when he referred to the new impeachment attempt seeking to oust him.
According to the Head of State, Parliament holds the country up to ridicule with this initiative, as it tries to oust a President —who is working— when 35 leaders of the region are about to arrive in Peru for the Summit of the Americas
"They know that it is wrong, very wrong, […] I am going to defend myself. I am not going to quit
," Peru's top official expressed.
"I have not done anything [wrong]. If I die today, Saint Peter will tell me I have acted correctly. My conscience is clean, and I will not allow traitors to stop me from working," Mr. Kuczynski underlined.
"That is all I ask for. Let me work," he added.
Remarks were made during his visit to South-Andean Puno region, where he announced the construction of 10 wastewater treatment plants, intended to decontaminate Lake Titicaca basin
and improve locals' quality of life.
