Spanish enterprises have expressed deep interest in investing in Peru’s infrastructure, health and energy sectors, the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) affirmed Tuesday.
"There is plenty of interest in transport, water, sanitation, energy, health, and education, which is something we at ProInversion are trying to boost significantly. We are getting a lot of private initiatives," Peñaranda assured.
The ProInversion representative said Spanish firms are particularly interested in Lake Titicaca's wastewater treatment plants and
natural gas projects in central and southern Peru, valued at US$350 million.
In addition, Peñaranda mentioned Spanish companies are interested in Lima Metro Lines 3 and 4, which will "likely" be awarded before the end of 2019.
Coming ventures
In the case of the latter, Peñaranda explained ProInversion has extended the prequalification process given the high number of bidders. Thus, the agency now expects to award the project in December.
He also anticipated Lake Titicaca's wastewater treatment plant (US$300 million) would likely be awarded in Jan-Feb 2018.
"The Huancayo-Huancavelica railroad would also be tendered in the beginning of 2018, and the gas massification project […] in the first half of next year," Peñaranda added.
