Peru has developed a unique gastronomic culture that fuses ingredients and influences from other nations, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said Saturday.
Remarks were made during the launch of "Cocina con Causa," a TV show in which viewers will be encouraged to "cook with a purpose."
The Peruvian leader said it is time to incorporate this asset into the daily diet of Peruvian homes so as to prevent conditions like
anemia.
"Peru is a gastronomic capital with a unique culinary culture that results from fusing marine, Andean, Asian and European ingredients, thus creating a
unique cuisine that didn't exist a century ago," he was quoted as saying.
He went on to say "this food contains one-of-a-kind flavors from around the world and is key to the country's tourism industry."
The 78-year-old statesman revealed the show is supported by UN World Food Programme and will be aired on state-run television network TV Peru.
