President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Sunday urged citizens to join the national deworming campaign aimed at combatting anemia and child malnutrition in Peru.
Remarks were made as he took part in the opening event on the occasion of Deworming Day 2017.
Within this framework, the Head of State underlined intestinal parasites are a serious problem in the Inca country since they cause health problems.
Thus, Peru's top official affirmed the government will launch this initiative every six months over the next five years.
"This will help us tremendously in the fight against anemia because
anemia weakens the [human] organism and growth," he said.
Efforts are comprised in the government's 2017-2021 national plan to reduce and control
anemia-chronic child malnutrition in Peru.
