Peru is shaping up as a leader in the fight against hunger and is expected to eradicate anemia as well as chronic malnutrition by 2030, Development and Social Inclusion Minister Fiorella Molinelli said at the second session of the World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Board in Rome.
Molinelli stressed Peru's commitment and leadership on a global scale and presented a successful cooperation model that may serve as an example to other countries.
Such strategy is intended to provide technical assistance to governmental entities and promote a strong alliance among the different society segments in the fight against
anemia, as well as
malnutrition and, therefore, achieve the goal of a country free from hunger by 2030.
The budget includes about S/40 million (around US$12.3 million) to finance WFP works in Peru within the next five years.
Funds are expected to be obtained from different sources including international donors, the private sector and annual Government contributions.
