Peru will present its strategy for tackling malnutrition and anemia to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Board in Rome (Italy) this November, Development and Social Inclusion Minister Fiorella Molinelli announced.

"This makes other countries look at Peru, as we have shown a great commitment and assumed the regional leadership to reduce anemia and chronic child malnutrition, which represent a serious issue for many countries," the cabinet member said.

Likewise, Molinelli pointed out poor nutrition does not only involve chronic childhood malnutrition but also anemia, overweight, and obesity.

"We have many people suffering from poor nutrition," she added.

The government official also noted this WFP meeting is essentially important, saying that if the Peru Country Strategic Plan (2018-2022) is approved, the countries making up such international organization will be willing to donate resources to the Andean nation in order to achieve its zero hunger goal.
