Peru seeks sustainable economic development and clean renewable energy

19:57 | Lima, Mar. 19.

A sustainable economic development is key for the Inca country. To do so, actions for planning and efficient use of our resources, as well as clean renewable energy must be our goal, Peru's Energy and Mines Minister Angela Grossheim said Monday.

In order to promote the aforementioned measures, Peru's Energy and Mines Ministry (MEM) has signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement with the Energy Research Center of the Netherlands

"We want to thank the Dutch Government, since the agreement will move us in that direction, by developing a strategy for energy investment, its efficient use and that of our renewables," Grossheim expressed.

Strategy

This initiative —valid for a period of 3 years— will develop a long-term energy strategy that provides the framework for investment decisions in the energy sector

Inked on Monday, the agreement will address topics like the potential role of energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies in the future energy matrix, as well as the impact of said technologies in the electricity price.

The event saw the presence of Peru's Energy and Mines Minister and the Netherlands' Ambassador to Peru Wiebe de Boer.
