17:25 | Lima, Jun. 6.

The construction of Navy ship BAP Pisco proves the joint efforts by civilians and military personnel contribute to the Inca country's development, Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra affirmed Wednesday.

According to the Head of State, this multipurpose vessel should be a source of pride not only for Navy members, but also for all Peruvians.

"In addition, this shall make us reflect on how to continue setting goals aimed at achieving progress and development (…)," the statesman noted.

In this sense, the Peruvian leader expressed his admiration for the work undertaken by the Armed Forces, which demonstrate the country's objectives can be achieved through efforts and determination.

"Having a ship like BAP Pisco gives us confidence that institutions in our country keep up with the population's expectations, as this vessel will serve them when necessary," he pointed out.

It must be noted BAP Pisco has the capacity to transport loads, people, and various services that will contribute to assisting citizens affected by natural disaster.

"We will continue supporting the Peruvian Navy so that it can keep developing engineering activities, just as they have been doing," he concluded.

Remarks were made during a flag-raising ceremony on the BAP Pisco at Callao's Naval Base.

The event saw the presence of Defense Minister Jose Huerta, Judicial Branch Chairman Duberli Rodriguez, Navy Commander General Gonzalo Rios, among other civil and military authorities.
