President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday joined a flag-raising ceremony on the Peruvian Navy ship BAP Pisco at Callao's Naval Base.
BAP Pisco is an LPD-type multipurpose logistic vessel of the Makassar class.
This high-capacity ship was built at the State-run Navy Industrial Services (SIMA) shipyards.
Due to its high technological capability and immediate response, it constitutes a logistic support for humanitarian aid operations in case of
natural disaster.
Likewise, it can undertake search-and-rescue missions on the high seas, as well as operations against
drug trafficking, illegal fishing, and
smuggling.
It must be noted BAP Pisco is able to transport up to 450 Marines, in addition to the 205 crew members.
