His Holiness Pope Francis on Saturday morning leads an open-air mass for around 500,000 believers at Huanchaco Beach in Peru's La Libertad region.
The Supreme Pontiff
landed in the northern region this morning at 8:55 AM, where he was welcomed by La Libertad Governor Luis Alberto Valdez, Trujillo's Archbishop Monsignor Miguel Cabrejos, and a group of mayors.
The Holy Father was then taken to the
service venue, where he was escorted to the podium by several Peruvian bishops.
The Pope received a huge ovation upon arrival at Huanchaco Beach, where he officiates the mass.
Service attendees remain silent as they attentively listen to Pope Francis.
President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski also attends the event.
The event is part of Pope Francis' pastoral activities for the third day of his visit to Peru.
