His Holiness Pope Francis has arrived in La Libertad region's capital, Trujillo, as part of his pastoral visit to Peru.
The Supreme Pontiff departed the Apostolic Nunciature on Saturday after 7:00 AM (local time) on route to Air Group N°8.
During his trip to the air terminal, he was greeted by thousands of people, although he did not travel via Popemobile.
Upon arrival at the Air Group, the Catholic Church's leader boarded a Latam plane, which left for its destination at around 07:45 AM.
Pope's arrival in
Trujillo was at 8:55 AM. He was received by La Libertad Governor Luis Alberto Valdez, Trujillo's Archbishop Monsignor Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte, and a group of mayors.
According to schedule, the Holy Father will lead a Holy Mass at Huanchaco Beach at 10:00 AM.
Later, he will get into the Popemobile to greet the crowds gathered in the streets ahead of a brief visit to the Cathedral and an ecclesiastical meeting at Seminario San Carlos and San Marcelo School.
At 4:30 PM, the Supreme Pontiff will head to Trujillo's main square to lead a Marian Celebration of Our Lady of the Gate.
Francis' arrival in Lima is scheduled for today at 7:40 PM.
