Prime Minister and Finance portfolio Head Fernando Zavala takes part in a Congress plenary session to support the Public Budget, External Debt and Financial Balance Bills for fiscal year 2018.

According to regulations, the Cabinet chief's speech should last 60 minutes at most and focus primarily on spending priorities and funding sources.

The presentation kicked off at 9:00 AM at Congress headquarters and was followed by a debate session.

The period of time designated for parliamentary groups' participation shall not exceed 20 minutes in each case.

Following the debate, the bills —introduced to Congress last Wednesday— will be published in the official gazette El Peruano and submitted to Budget and General Account Committee for discussion at its public sessions.

It must be noted the 2018 Public Budget Bill amounts to S/157.158 billion (about US$48.49 billion), thus showing a 10% growth compared to current year's budget.
