Peruvian Government on Monday declared North Korea's Ambassador an unwelcome person in Peru over the Asian country's nuclear program.

According to Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Hak-Chol has five days to leave the Andean country.

The decision was taken in response to the country's repeated and flagrant violations of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

Peru also protests North Korea's refusal to heed the international community's constant calls to comply with its international obligations, respect international law and end its nuclear program.

"Such policy constitutes a serious and unacceptable threat to peace and international security, as well as to stability in northeastern Asia and all over the world," reads the official release.

The measure is underpinned by Peru's reiterated official releases that condemn North Korea's nuclear activity and ballistic missile testing and call for an immediate implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The initiative is also supported by a diplomatic note, dated March 30th, 2017, which stated Peru's request to reduce diplomats at the North Korean Embassy in Lima from six to three.

"This way, the Government of Peru reiterates its commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes and strict implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions," the Ministry stressed.

"Plus, it reaffirms its position to engage in diplomatic efforts to denuclearize North Korea," it concluded.
