Peru's Second Vice-President Mercedes Araoz will take over the presidential office when President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski travels to Chile to attend Sebastian Piñera's inauguration.

According to a supreme resolution published in the official newspaper El Peruano, Araoz will be in charge of the Andean country's presidency while the top official is absent on March 10 and 11.

The presidential inauguration ceremony will be held in Santiago and Valparaiso and be attended by the Peruvian leader, who was authorized, by Congress, to leave the Inca country's territory on said dates.

On this occasion, and according to the chain of command, it is the Second Vice-President who shall take over the President's office, given that First Vice-President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra is currently in Canada serving as Peruvian ambassador.

The aforementioned resolution bears the signatures of the Head of State and Mercedes Araoz, who also chairs the Council of Ministers and serves as a lawmaker at the Peruvian Parliament.
