Peru's First Vice-President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday reaffirmed his loyalty to President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and said this is the reason why he returned to Lima as soon as he received the presidential call.

Addressing the media outside his residence, Vizcarra affirmed he has been in constant telephone contact with the leader —who informed him of the current situation in the country— while in Canada, where he serves as Peruvian Ambassador.

According to the government official, loyalty is a trait that should always be a part of our individual characteristics.

"I am loyal to the President, to the group I am part of, and that's why I'm here, because of the President's call," he stated.

Shortly after his arrival in the capital, Vizcarra said he will meet with the Head of State within the framework of the meeting of the Council of Ministers.

"The news has spread to Canada, which is far away from Peru, although lacking the required details," he added.
