BCR: Peru economy may have expanded above 6% in April 2018

13:25 | Lima, Jun. 8.

Peruvian economy may have expanded above 6% in April 2018, underpinned by fishing and manufacturing sectors, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) projected Friday.

According to BCR Economic Studies Manager Jorge Estrella, said rate might be essentially supported by an increase in the fishery sector, due to a good anchovy catch season.

"On the other hand, manufacturing and services will be the sectors experiencing growth. Above all, the non-primary manufacturing (sector) should register a very good growth rate," he concluded.

As is known, Peruvian GDP increased 3.93% in March 2018 over the same month last year.

Based on Finance Ministry projections, the national economy will rise 3.6% in 2018.
