Peruvian Parliament will debate the new impeachment motion against President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on March 22, Congress Chairman Luis Galarreta announced Thursday.
According to Galarreta, said event will kick off at 10:00 AM (local time).
On that day, the Head of State will be able to exercise his right to defense during a plenary session, just as was the case in the first impeachment motion, which was submitted and
rejected last December.
Additionally,
Mr. Kuczynski may be assisted by a lawyer. As is known, Alberto Borea defended the statesman on that occasion.
The presidential impeachment motion —on the grounds of moral incapacity—
was admitted for debate by a large majority of legislators.
Said initiative seeks to remove President Kuczynski from office for alleged links with Brazilian construction
company Odebrecht.
