President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed Peru is facing a very fractured political situation and urged citizens to remain united in order to overcome the country's real problems.
"There is too much gossip, many rumors, many fratricidal fights; we need to unite against the true obstacles, which are well known," the Head of State expressed in the academic year closing ceremony of the Peruvian Army Officer School
He went on to say corruption resulting from the administrative disorder, the lack of culture and honesty, drugs damaging society, as well as poverty in Andean and Amazon regions, are the main difficulties Peruvians need to deal with together.
"The important thing is to never lose faith and remain optimistic. Problems can be resolved if you have inner strength," he was quoted as saying.
Likewise, President Kuczynski noted the progress made by the economy over the past 25 years. "We have an economy that is five times larger than it was in 1990, but we still have a long way to go," he added.
During the ceremony, the statesman was joined by Defense Minister Jorge Nieto and Armed Forces high-ranking officers.
