Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Thursday afternoon arrived in the northern city of Chiclayo to lead an inspection visit and assist citizens whipped by heavy rains.
The Inca nation has been at the mercy of several landslides over recent weeks, as a result of downpours overflowing rivers in different regions.
The Head of State paid a visit to Jose Leonardo Ortiz district to assess the damages caused by rains.
After verifying damages in the zone, the President said he would declare the state of emergency in districts affected by floods.
Mr. Kuczynski walked across the streets, spoke with neighbors and ordered the deployment of electric pumps, water cisterns, and supplies to the area.
Peru's top official was joined by Prime Minister Fernando Zavala and Minister Edmer Trujillo (Housing, Construction and Sanitation).
