Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski noted the good relationship and existing unity between the governments and peoples of Peru and Colombia, which strengthens the countries' presence in the international arena.

Speaking from the 3rd Peru-Colombia Binational Cabinet and Presidential Meeting in Arequipa, the statesman said the mechanism has worked well, so he is confident the system will continue to do so in the future.

"Above all, I want to highlight that union is strength," he said during the bilateral meeting he attends along with Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos and ministers from both countries.

The bilateral meeting is a great opportunity to develop closer ties between Peru and Colombia, and foster trade, cultural and environmental exchanges between the two neighboring countries.

"We share the vast Amazon area and many other cultural patterns, and I believe this is a good moment to enhance our ties. President Santos and his cabinet are very welcome here," the Peruvian leader said.

He expects the Pacific Alliance —integrational mechanism comprising Peru, Colombia, Chile and Mexico— will work in this corner of the world, as one of the most important multilateral blocs with over 59 observer countries.

It should be noted, Mr. Kuczynski's speech showcased his unmistakable style and sense of humor, as is customary.

Held at Libertador Hotel in Arequipa, the 3rd Binational Cabinet and Presidential Meeting was led by Kuczynski and Santos, who looked over the achievement in bilateral relations and prepared to make new commitments.

Activities also include an official photo session and the signing of the Arequipa Declaration, laying down agreements reached by both delegations.

The binational cabinet sessions' main goal is to enhance harmonization of policies and development of inter-sectoral cooperation projects in areas of common interest, with a focus on productive development through social inclusion.
