Peru: Non-traditional exports to double to US$25 billion by 2025

The lines of action of the 2025 National Strategic Exports Plan (PENX) will be carried out through 105 programs, which goals are to double non-traditional exports to US$25 billion by 2025, and rising threefold the services exports to US$18 billion, informed the Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva.

She also specified the four lines of action of 2025 PENX are based on the development of the diversified, competitive and sustainable exportable supply.

PENX is also based on the diversification of markets and the internationalization of Peruvian enterprises.

"Additionally, are easing the trade and the efficiency of the international logistical chain, as well as generating capabilities for the internationalization and the consolidation of an exports knowledge," she stated by indicating it will be coordinated jointly with public entities, business associations and regional authorities.

In that sense, Silva specified the 2025 PENX is one the strategic foundations for the development of the country.


Free Trade Agreements

When referring to the Free Trade Agreements involving Peru, she said: "Our country has 17 Trade Agreements, which enable to carry out the 93% of exports [...] There are two trade agreements [with Guatemala and the Pacific Alliance] which are soon to enter into force," she said.

As well, the Minister indicated Peru participates in 6 processes of bilateral, plurilateral and multilateral negotiations.

(Turkey, Honduras, El Salvador, Trans-Pacific Partnership - TPP, the World Trade Organization in Services Agreement - WTO, and the WTO Doha Development Agenda).

During her presentation before Congress, she addressed the Ministry’s policy to be implemented in the next months.

The actions that are being carried out in the two sub-sectors of the Ministry were indicated.

The progress, achieved in regard to the promotion of domestic and foreign tourism, was also addressed.
