Peru’s President, Ollanta Humala, concluded the meeting for dialogue held at Lima’s Government Palace.
The meeting was intended for the political forces to engage in dialogue with the central government, which is seeking to reach agreements regarding political, social and economic affairs.
“We have been taking notes about the suggestions made by the political forces,” President Humala said.
Topics, related so citizen’s safety, economic growth, intelligence, fight against corruption, labor inclusion, drug trafficking and Peru’s participation in the OECD were addressed.
This led to an agenda with “substance,” the President told attendees.
The Head of State highlighted social policies implemented by his government, such as access to university grants, pensions for low-income seniors (Pension 65), the children’s school food program (Qali Warma), which currently provides food to more than 3 million children per day.
An irrigation program, created to provide water to the High Andean areas, Mi Riego was also mentioned. The fund has been allocated some S/.1.6 billion.
He also highlighted the need to diversify the production as stated by the National Plan for Productive Diversification, issued by the Ministry of Production.
“These programs enable us to grow,” the President stated.
“We had started in a very hard manner, but we have moved forward,” he expressed.
The meeting was presided over by President Ollanta Humala and Prime Minister, Ana Jara.
