About 3,900 people will march in the streets surrounding the Qhapaq Ñan complex located in the Andean city of Cajamarca, Peru as part of the traditional carnival’s parade to be held on February 16, reported the patronage organizing this regional festivity.
According to Julio Nunura, member of the Cajamarca Carnival patronage, these people represent delegations from 52 Cajamarca districts.
“A total of 52 delegations have officially registered for it. Each delegation totals around 25 participants and consists of three groups,” Nunura told Andina news agency.
The carnival’s organization has required an investment of about S/.600,000 (about US$198,412) and this year’s target is to improve the experience of the celebration in order to draw more tourists seeking a healthy source of good clean fun.
Nearly 30,000 people are expected to arrive in Cajamarca city during the carnival days; however, it is difficult to determine who are tourists and who are locals returning to their homeland to enjoy the carnival.
