The National Forum of Political Party’s Youth rejected the announcement made by the 'Movement for Amnesty and Fundamental Rights' (Movadef), linked to terrorist group Shining Path.

The forum rejects Movadef's intention to participate in 2016 general elections.

Movadef was founded by ManuelFajardo and Alfredo Crespo, lawyer of imprisoned Shining Path leader, Abimael Guzman Reynoso.

“We consider outrageous that this group, political aide to [terrorist group] Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) intends to register [to run for a political office]. We consider it an insult to the thousands of victims hit by terrorist and genocidal violence, which we deplore,” a release stated.

“The political parties’ youth do not forget the genocide and barbarism initiated by this group. We speak on behalf of millions of youngsters. We will not allow the group’s registration, whether it’s direct or indirect,” it added.

The release also urged authorities to act fast "to come up" with a legislation to prevent such groups from running for political office.

For decades the Shining Path terrorist organization spread fear in Peru.

Bombings, mass murders, attacks against: rural communities, government institutions and people in the cities were conducted by the organization from 1980 until 2000.

The terrorist group was responsible for the death of 12,564 people, according to a report issued by The Truth and Reconciliation Commission published in 2003.
