Peruvian beach volleyball team defeated Iran 2-1, claiming their second consecutive victory at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics on Monday.
Peruvian duo Jimmy Heredia and Luis Bramont beat Iranians (21-18, 21-23, 18-16) in a match played at the Sports Park Beach Volley Venue in Nanjing, China.
Previously, Olympic medalist and current Peruvian coach Rosa Garcia saw her side win 2-0 (21-10 y 21-6) in their first match to Virgin Islands.
Seeded second in Pool C, Peru will look for another win when they come up against Puerto Ricans on August 19.
The Beach Volleyball events of the Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Game have taken place in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park since August 17 and will run through August 27.
Athletes and teams that finish in the top three places in each event will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively.
The Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Game will see a total of 2 gold medals in beach volleyball. The gold medal dates are 26 and 27 August, 2014.
The competition for Men and Women consists of two phases - the preliminary phase and the final phase.
A total of 36 men and 36 women grouped in two-athlete teams take part in the competition. In total, 228 matches will be played (114 men's and 114 women's).
