The population living in the Peruvian capital Lima continues to grow, with official counts now reaching 8,693,387 residents, according to Peru’s National Institute for Statistics and Information (INEI).
INEI has released new figures both measuring the current population and making predictions about the near future.

According to the government agency, Lima’s current population is just under 8.7 million. By June of this year, predicts the population is expected to grow over 8.75 million, peruthisweek.com reported.

Moreover, the report founds that by 2019, year in which Lima will host the Pan American Games, the city’s population will be more than 9,445,000. While by Peru’s bicentennial in 2021, Lima’s population is likely to be more than 9,721,000.

Though population projections are interesting, they’re not as informative as the more detailed demographic statistics that the INEI published today. For instance, women outnumber men in Lima by a little over 250,000.
