A new museum in the Peruvian region of Pasco will be the highest museum in the world, once it is completed.

The new museum, which is currently in the developing phase, will be built 4,380 meters above sea level and will showcase the region’s mining history.

According to Rodolfo Rojas, regional director of trade and tourism in Pasco, the new museum will be built in the city of Cerro de Pasco.

“Peru’s minerals will be exhibited in this mineralogical museum,” Rojas said, adding that the museum would also showcase a simulation of the mining process, as well as a gift shop.

Eventually, the museum could include a research center, Peruthisweek.com reported him saying.
