Prime Minister Salvador del Solar on Tuesday conveyed a message to his fellow Peruvian citizens on the World Book Day.
"Let's stand for freedom, for imagination, for knowledge that makes us humans. Let's grow as individuals and citizens. To a country with more readers, to a better Peru: Happy Book Day!" he wrote on Twitter.
The World Book Day, also known as
World Book and Copyright Day, is commemorated worldwide, aiming to promote reading, boost the editorial industry, and protect the intellectual property in copyrights.
Established by
UNESCO, it is celebrated every April 23 since 1996.
This is a landmark date for world literature, as on this day, in 1616, prominent authors Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, all died.
