WBG highlights Peru's child malnutrition reduction

18:37 | Lima, Oct. 18.

Peru has significantly reduced malnutrition rates in the last few years, World Bank Group (WBG) Executive Director for Peru Maximo Torero informed.

According to him, the Inca country's practices should be considered as one of the best in the world and a role model for other countries in the region.

"We've had a stable economy that has experienced positive growth —a necessary condition for reducing chronic child malnutrition and achieving development and growth," Torero stressed.

He went on to add the aim is to diminish inequality across the nation.

Remarks were made during the Social Inclusion forum: Unity, Development, and Sustainability.

The meeting was organized by the Development and Social Inclusion Ministry (Midis) and Congress' Social Inclusion and People with Disabilities Committee, within the framework of the 7th Social Inclusion Week.

The WBG representative was joined by Development and Social Inclusion Minister Liliana La Rosa, who put children and teenagers are protagonists of change.
