UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet to conduct official visit to Peru

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet will begin an official mission to Peru on 18 July, during which she will hold discussions on the country's human rights challenges and opportunities.

According to a media advisory, the High Commissioner is due to meet, among others, senior officials from the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches; civil society and indigenous peoples' representatives; human rights defenders; the private sector; and international community members.

She will hold a news conference in Lima at the end of her mission on Wednesday 20 July at 10.30 a.m. (local time). Access to the news conference will be strictly limited to accredited media.

More details about the news conference, including registration instructions, will follow in a media advisory to be issued locally.
