UK says it stands together with Peru, following presidential appointment

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom has issued a statement on Peru's new President Dina Boluarte.

"The UK stands together with the people of Peru in support of their democracy," the statement reads.

"We welcome Dina Boluarte being sworn in as President of Peru, and her commitment to unity, inclusion and dialogue," it added.

In addition, the office stated that the UK looks forward to working with the President and her administration to help Peru advance sustainable and inclusive development in ways that respect human rights. 

"Peru is an important partner and through our work together our two countries deliver more strongly across our shared interests," it said in the communiqué.

Via Twitter, British Ambassador to Peru Gavin Cook affirmed that the United Kingdom will continue to work hand in hand with Peru and President Dina Boluarte towards the inclusive and sustainable development of both countries.

David Rutley, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Americas and Caribbean) at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, also commented on the swearing-in of Mrs. Boluarte.

"The UK reaffirms its unwavering support for Peruvian democracy. We welcome Dina Boluarte being sworn in as President of Peru, and her commitment to unity, inclusion and dialogue," he said in a Tweet.
