Two tourists rescued from Tocllaraju Peak in Peru

Two foreigners were rescued after an accident at Tocllaraju Peak, one of the highest mountains in the White Mountain Range located in Huaraz, the capital of Ancash region.

The tourists came from Italy and Venezuela, according to the Peruvian Mountain Guides Association (AGMP), whose members participated in the rescue, along with agents from the High Mountain Rescue Unit (Depsam) of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) based in Ancash.

The group of rescuers left the shelter in Ishinca into the snowy area where the foreigners had had an accident. 


Both tourists were initially evacuated to the community of Pashpa and were later taken to a local clinic.

For the time being, the causes of the accident are unknown, as well as the details of their state of health; however, they are receiving medical care.

The AGMP rescuers asked domestic and foreign tourists wishing to venture into the mountains of the Mountain Range, to do so following the recommendations of experts, as well as to contact specialized guides in order to safeguard their integrity.
