Two Russian citizens were arrested at the Binational Border Service Center (Cebaf) in Tumbes, northern Peru, when their suitcases were scanned during entry control and revealed two rectangular packages, which subsequent tests confirmed 6.5 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Peruvian National Police (PNP) personnel had been monitoring movements at the Cebaf.
They spotted a car coming from Ecuador carrying two members of the so-called "Los Rusos de la Droga" (The Russians of Drugs).
It was reported to Andina News Agency that upon inspecting the gray Kia vehicle, with Ecuadorian license plate PDI-3090, driven by Zevs Kosmos (47) and accompanied by Aleksandr Livinskii (47), the Russians were required to show their suitcases.
When scanned, it was detected that each was carrying a black suitcase containing two rectangular packages wrapped in black plastic and transparent film.

The verification confirmed that the four packages contained a whitish and slightly moist substance.
The field test came back positive for cocaine hydrochloride, with a total weight of 6.5 kilograms.
The detainees were taken to the headquarters of the Peruvian National Police Criminalistics Division in Tumbes, where personnel from the Provincial Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office arrived.
