The capital Lima is set to host the first edition of the Peru Summi on May 13, 2014, organized by the leading international affairs weekly The Economist.
Several core challenges posed by the Andean nation's future such as innovation, human capital, infrastructure, citizen safety, culture and policy will be addressed by attendees at the
international meeting.
"Peru is not just one of the leading growth countries in recent years, but it has higher growth forecasts for the next five years than the majority of nations from the region," Irene Mia, regional director of Latin America and the Caribbean at the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
Top representatives from leading firms in the region such as David Bojanini, Sura Group's President and CEO; and Adriana Cisneros, Cisneros Group's Managing Director are expected to attend this year's summit as keynote speakers.
Likewise, attending the business forum will be Felipe Vergara, Lumni's Executive Director and Co-Founder; as well as Eduardo Hochschild, Hochschild Mining's Executive chairman.
"The event has previously been carried out in Brazil and Mexico, while Colombia hosted the gathering last year. We actually chose Peru for this year's edition as it is a very interesting country," Irene Mia said.
The EIU has foreseen Peru's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will expand at an average annual rate of 6 percent over the next five years due to the country's macroeconomics strength.
