State of emergency: Peru Army monitors military participation in capital city

14:23 | Lima, Mar. 16.

Within the framework of the state of national emergency declared in Peru last Sunday, Army General Commander Jorge Celiz Kuong visited different districts across the Peruvian capital Lima on Monday to supervise military participation in their areas of responsibility.

The activity was marked by visits to Chorrillos, Barranco, downtown Lima, among other districts within the capital city.

This measure was implemented after the announcement made official via Supreme Decree issued by the Executive Branch, which declares a state of national emergency due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the territory —a measure that implies mandatory social isolation for a period of 15 days.

In view of this, the National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces have been providing all the necessary support to implement this measure and guarantee public services.
