The Republic of Korea, through the
Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has donated an oxygen generating plant to the maternal and child health center "Laura Rodriguez Dulanto" located in Lima's Comas district, which is part of the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks in Northern Lima (DIRIS Lima Norte).
The initiative is intended to mitigate the effects of the current health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the agency, the donation was made within the framework of the project "Strengthening of response capacities at medical facilities and emergency support for the vulnerable population impacted by COVID-19 in Peru."
The hand-over ceremony took place at the health care center's facilities, complying with the respective health protocols.
The event included the participation of KOICA Peru Director Jung Wook Lee, Deputy Director-General of DIRIS Lima Norte's Directorate-General Dr. Fernando Delgado, and Maternal Health Center Laura Rodriguez's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Zenaida Barriga.
The KOICA director highlighted the enthusiasm to continue cooperation activities with the health care center —assisted by the South Korean agency— in order to provide support to people who experience oxygen deprivation.
Likewise, he reaffirmed KOICA's commitment to contributing to the development of Peru and recommended that this new reality be considered as a source of inspiration and an alternative to create new opportunities.
