Italian-Peruvian soccer striker Gianluca Lapadula may already rely on the National Identity Document (DNI) that accredits him as a Peruvian citizen. This would give him the green light to join the national team that will play against Chile and Argentina at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers in November.

The news of the attacker from Italy's Benevento Calcio was confirmed by journalist Augusto Alvarez Rodrich via Twitter.

According to the newsman, the official form filled out by the athlete has already arrived at the offices of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC), and the ID card would be ready in the coming days.

This way, Gianluca Lapadula would be allowed to play against Chile and Argentina, if coach Ricardo Gareca deems it necessary.

The 30-year-old striker has already played for Italian clubs Pescara, AC Milan, Genoa, and Lecce during the past five years.

Born to a Peruvian mother, he has made public his admiration and love for his roots on more than one occasion.
