A leading Peruvian tourist magnet, Puno region never fails to amaze local and foreign visitors, who arrive lured by its colorful landscapes and iconic Lake Titicaca.

In this sense, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry invites you to discover a new side to this Andean gem, taking in the most captivating landscapes while bonding with locals: authentic community-based tourism in Puno.

This highland region currently offers six community tourism packages to the following destinations: Amantani, Llachon, Taquile, Uros, Atuncolla and Ccotos.

Unlike traditional tours, Puno's community-based experience allows visitors to walk in the shoes of locals and enjoy their unique lifestyle, participating in traditional ceremonies, fishing tasks and even building totora reed boats.

The packages were prepared under the Ministry's Rural Community-based Tourism Strategy, which guarantees the quality of accommodation, food and other services.

This way, families, couples, groups and solo travelers get to enjoy captivating highland scenarios, authentic local activities and products while contributing to the local economy and promotion of values.

Candelaria Festivity

As is known, Puno currently celebrates Virgen de la Candelaria Festivity, deemed one of the Inca nation's most important cultural manifestations.

The major event —also a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage— gathers hundreds of dancers from various Peruvian regions, who perform before tens of thousands of national and foreign visitors.

Candelaria attendees are invited to take the opportunity and experience the ultimate Puno experience through rural community-based tourism.

In addition to Puno, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry also offers over 40 rural community-based tourism packages to eight Peruvian regions: Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Cusco, Arequipa, Loreto, Ancash, San Martin and Lima.
