Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPerú) will seek to promote The Milk of Sorrow's inclusion in the list of Academy Award nominees for Best Foreign Language Film.
For this purpose, PromPerú announced that the award-winning movie will be screened at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 7, 9, and 11. The film screening is being publicized through local magazines Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
"The excellent quality of the film and recognition both from audiences and film critics were some of the reasons why we decided to invest in a promotion strategy for this movie," said PromPerú official Mara Seminario.
Seminario explained that the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences includes in this category all feature-length motion pictures produced outside the United States of America with a predominantly non-English dialogue track.
The 82nd Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Tuesday, February 2. The Oscar ceremony honoring films for 2009 will again take place on March 7 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles.
